Biography

Michael is a Geospatial Systems Enthusiast, Technologist and Consultant. He is currently a Managing Director and CTO for Matrix Information Technologies and a Co-Founder and CTO for Forward Logistics. He assumed Principal GIS role implementing and managing a high profile time and mission critical GIS solutions in a Homeland Security domain.  He is a highly motivated Senior GIS Expert at strategic level, Solutions Architecture and Development with 20+ years of experience in the IT industry effectively delivering Enterprise level Solutions to multiple government sectors. He is excellent in understanding and gathering business requirements, selecting and implementing  appropriate solutions using various technologies. Michael is detail oriented with a long track record of improving and optimizing delivery methods.

Michael has acquired a great deal of expertise working on multi-sectoral large scale GIS projects and later specialized for almost 10 years on enterprise focused capacity in a dynamic environment. He has effectively spearheaded technology adoption, automations and integrations of high volume and velocity (real-time) data stream from different systems to create a Common Operational Picture (COP). He is equipped with the skill set to solicit business needs, architect, develop solutions and manage efficient and cost effective implementation. His track record on successfully delivering GIS projects in different domains including oil and gas, environment, transportation and extensively on homeland security law enforcement and public safety has given him the acumen on bringing GIS values into an organizational workflow.

Michael is a Certified Cloud Solutions Architect and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) holding a BA Degree in Management from Addis Ababa University. He also graduated in Computer Science from HiLCoE School of Computer Science and Technology. 

If Michael is not working, he might be at home being silly with his two lovely children, Tihut and Bereket. During a spare time, he passionately research on public health, bio-medicine, natural healing and well-being. His children and music are his hideouts from the madness of this world. He enjoys outdoors swimming, biking and ground tennis.
