Michael Melaku is a globally experienced Geospatial Systems Expert, Cloud Solutions Architect, entrepreneur, and innovation strategist. Drawing on 15 years of immersive work within one of the world’s most progressive smart city and  top-tier governance ecosystems, he brings a rare blend of technical mastery and strategic insight to digital solutions demanding the highest levels of innovation to meet global benchmarks of excellence. 

With more than 24 years of experience in information technology, Michael has personally designed, implemented, and delivered mission-critical and time-critical platforms across government, law enforcement, transportation, oil & gas, environmental management, and homeland security. Blending strategic project management with deep technical expertise, he has built enterprise-grade solutions that integrate geospatial systems, cloud architecture, and real-time data processing — empowering organizations to achieve Common Operational Pictures (COP) and make data-driven decisions at scale.

Currently, as a Managing Director & CTO of Matrix Information Technology and Co-Founder & CTO of Forward Logistics Technologies, he helps organizations harness the power of GIS, AI, and Cloud Computing to transform logistics, security, and enterprise operations.

Michael is leading groundbreaking initiatives through Matrix Information Technology and Forward Logistics Technologies, developing innovative technology solutions that catalyze economic transformation on a national scale. By combining geospatial systems, advanced logistics platforms, and AI-powered automation, his work is reshaping how industries, public services, and supply chains operate — accelerating growth, improving efficiency, and unlocking new opportunities for entire economies.

A former Principal GIS Consultant for high-profile homeland security programs, Michael has consistently driven technology adoption, automation, and integration of large-volume, high-velocity data streams. He is recognized for translating complex business requirements into elegant, cost-effective solutions that enhance performance and reduce risk.

Michael is a Certified Cloud Solutions Architect and Project Management Professional (PMP). He graduated in Management from Addis Ababa University and Computer Science from HiLCoE School of Computer Science and Technology.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Michael devotes time to researching public health, biomedicine, and natural healing, underscoring his commitment to advancing well-being. Outside the rhythm of high-tech projects, he treasures playful moments with his children, Tihut and Bereket, and recharges through music, swimming, and cycling. He still longs for the friendly challenge of tennis — a passion momentarily paused by life’s busy pace but always longing to go back to the court with a smile.
